Unfortunately, the only way to get a Guild Hall is to purchase it with a Celestial Sigil. You can obtain that one of 3 ways: buy from the Sigil Trader (always out of stock), win at the Hall of Heros (and hope like hell that the one Sigil that drops has your name on it), or buy it from a HoH winner (current going rate seems to be about 60k).

Wow, it sounds practically impossible to procure a Celestial Sigil. Our guild is growing fairly well. Last I heard we had 30-35 members. I hope we can find this Celestial Sigil when we need one.

I'm not sure you read that correctly. The going rate or price for a Celestial Sigil is around 60,000gp. The Sigil merely gives you the ability to buy a guild hall, at which point you then have to pay for that too.
It doesn't sound like you've had a chance to see the various guild halls yet either. You'll get to see them when you get to the Lion's Arch and take a boat tour of those "islands."

I'm confused as to why sigils are becoming more and more expensive. Certainly there has to be quite a few extras floating around now-a-days. I mean, a guild only has use for one and it is guilds that usually get several cigils over the course of a night.

The Sigil is just going to become more expensive as time goes on.
Players that were still fledgelings when the sigils were 35k are now probably post ascension, and ready to buy their own guild halls, so that creates a demand.
The supply of Sigils doesn't change, because every day, only a number of Sigils can be won, so thus, the demand is greater than the supply, and price increases.
Also, the amount of gold in the game overall has increased, so inflation occurs and the sigils go up in price again.
Finally, as more and more players buy the game, the demand for sigils will go up even more and so will the price.
So I suggest that people buy it while it's still cheap =P

Yea, but if you consider the fact that the big guilds win multiple sigils every day, you'd think that they'd want to get rid of them all. With so many extras floating around I would assume that the price would drop, considering a sigil is a one time use item. Once a guild has one, they'll never need one again unless they want to change their guild hall.
Personally, I think people are over-charging for the sigil just because everyone *thinks* they are so rare and difficult to obtain.

The demand is high due to the dramatic increase in the number of guilds and the perception that a guild hall will attract more members and that a hall would be a cool thing to have - this is true and it is all about prestige!
Personally I feel that Sigils should not be available for resale. It should remain a sign of accomplishment and only drops once upon your victory in the Hall of Heroes: 60k gps is just absurd and guilds should not be able to purchase their status, regardless of the cost. Fight for it and Earn it!

I don't know if I agree with that. While it is not my preferance, I could understand a PvE guild wanting a Guild Hall. If the cost is 60plat, then don't you think they did in fact "fight for it and earn it?"

I agree, to fight and amass that amount takes a lot of time, and farming, as well as doing the quests/missions.

Ok you raise a valid point for PVE. However, this is Guild Wars and I think that if your guild wants a hall then participate in the WARS...but it having some sort of quest for PVE guilds to complete for a Sigil, could be something for the GW Devs to consider.

PvP shouldn't be the only way to buy a hall (besides paying 60k). What about us roleplayers? I think they should add an incredibly difficult PvE mission sometime after ascension that rewards a sigil to the group leader, and only members of the same guild can be in those groups. If balanced right, it could provide the same difficulty as the HoH, while giving the people who just want to roleplay a way to have their own hall. Plus, this would lower the overall price of the sigils. What's not to like?
EDIT: sorry, posted before reading the last couple replies, which basically said the same thing I just did.

Ok, for some of you who HAVE bought a guild hall... Not counting the cost of obtaining a Celestial Sigil, how much IS a Guild Hall going for, and does that price fluctuate? Inquiring minds want to know.

Totally agree with some PvE missions awarding a sigil for an award. The current prices are pretty rediculus (I'm seeing 40k for the majority of them), but this mission had better be pretty dang hard. Really force a PvE team to earn it just as the PvP teams are.
